Far flung of Santiniketan

Many of us know about Santiniketan-The place of Tagore`s university, but there are few places around Santiniketan which can work as a quiet  respite for city dwellers.

Amar Kutir:-

Amar Kutir is an offspring of Swadeshi (independence) movement and promotion of rural Bengals`s handicraft industry.

The craftsmanship of the artisans can be observed peacefully as long as one wishes.


The brook named Kopai runs down beside Amar Kutir. The verdure, blue sky and breeze re-freshens all tiredness in a blink.

Within six kilometer Shorea Robustas prevail ``Illambazar Jungle`` along with jackals, rabbits,hyenas and numerous birds. It`s not recommended to enter the jungle without a group and a local guide from the highway.

Vallabhpur :- Mr. Badhan Das started the `Durga Puja` festival here in 2001 now the festival is operated by locals of  `Santhal tribe`


The deity reflects heavy touch of tribal art.
